The Route of My Commute

I've probably bragged before about my short & picturesque commute to work.
It's always dark when I go to work, so I don't see the beauty that I'm driving past. As I left work on Saturday, I was once again impressed by the sights of Napa Valley in Spring.  I decided to share the pictures I snapped (or should I say digitally recorded) on my way home.

Ranndy,

Those are some nice views. I was curious about all of the rocks and rockwork, fences and such. How many of the rock fences were from the 1800's? Are the rocks from the volcanic formation of the valley?

Hi Steve,
The walls with the nice crisp lines were built in recent years. They were put together using mortar. The other walls that are made purely of stacked rocks are probably from the 1800's. We have "lace" rock (lighter, redder, rougher) in the valley that I know was volcanic, but they are not commonly used in rock walls. Maybe one of my readers can supply a better answer.
Thanks for the comments, Steve.
How's the team looking this year?

Ranndy,

I know the lighter rocks from Mt. Veeder I have seen are volcanic in origin. I was curious how much of the Napa Valley was volcanic. We have stacked rock fences built by cheap labor in the 1800's to rid a field of rocks.

Thanks for the interest in the team. We're doing okay. Real young and it shows. We have 10 games left in league and need to win 6 to get in the playoffs. We'll see.

Thanks.

Steve
